Vietnamese Cargo Ship Sinks in South China Sea, 17 Crew Members Missing

An extensive multinational search operation is currently underway for 17 crew members who remain missing after a Vietnamese cargo ship, identified as the Khoi Nguyen 18, sank in the South China Sea. The incident occurred in an area near Fiery Cross Reef amidst severe weather conditions.

The vessel was carrying a total of 62 individuals when it went down. Rescuers have successfully located and recovered 45 people from the sea. However, despite ongoing efforts, 17 crew members have not yet been accounted for.

Coordinating the search and rescue mission are teams from Vietnam, the Philippines, and China, highlighting the international scope of the emergency response. The focus remains on locating the missing individuals as the operation continues under challenging circumstances.
