Host Richard Taite, Founder of Carrara Treatment to Match Donations Up to $25K for International Overdose Awareness Day on Aug 31

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, August 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — “We’re Out of Time,” a #1-ranked Mental Health podcast on Apple hosted by Richard Taite, founder and Executive Chairman of Carrara Treatment Wellness & Spa, is supporting the CDC Foundation during August’s Overdose Awareness Month to raise awareness for the overdose crisis and support community-based efforts to prevent overdose deaths across the country.

As part of the campaign, Taite will match donations to the CDC Foundation’s Community Overdose Prevention Efforts (COPE) campaign dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000, turning the conversation around overdose prevention into an opportunity for direct action.

The campaign launched with a special episode of “We’re Out of Time” featuring CDC Foundation President and CEO Dr. Judy Monroe and CDC Foundation Public Health Analyst Terri Perez, JD, a former deputy district attorney with 31 years of experience. Together with Taite, they have a candid conversation about why preventing overdose requires collaboration across public health, public safety, addiction treatment and communities — and why connecting people to care before a crisis can save lives.

“These conversations matter, but I also believe we have to act,” says Taite. “I’ve seen firsthand what addiction does to individuals and families, and I wanted to use this platform to do more than raise awareness. If we can help prevent even one family from losing someone they love, that’s worth everything.”

“‘We’re Out of Time’ creates an important space for conversations that bring together different perspectives on addiction and overdose,” says Monroe. “These discussions can help break down stigma, build understanding and highlight how public health, public safety, treatment providers, families and communities can work together to prevent overdose and save lives.”

The partnership will continue throughout Overdose Awareness Month with COPE messages and calls to action featured across “We’re Out of Time” episodes and social media leading up to International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, a global observance dedicated to remembering those lost to overdose and advancing overdose prevention efforts.

A CONVERSATION ABOUT WHAT IT TAKES TO PREVENT THE NEXT OVERDOSE

In the special episode, Taite, Monroe and Perez examine the overdose crisis through perspectives rarely brought together in one conversation: public health, law enforcement, addiction treatment and lived family experience.

Monroe discusses the CDC Foundation’s role in addressing public health challenges and reflects on lessons from her early career as a physician serving rural communities. Perez draws on three decades prosecuting narcotics cases in San Diego, as well as her family’s personal experience with addiction and recovery.

Together, they explore stigma, emerging drug threats, harm reduction and ways communities can connect people to care before a crisis becomes a tragedy – underscoring that meaningful overdose prevention requires collaboration among public health, public safety, treatment providers, families and communities.

TURNING AWARENESS INTO ACTION

Through the matching campaign, listeners and supporters can contribute directly to the CDC Foundation’s Community Overdose Prevention Efforts Campaign. Taite with Carrara Treatment Wellness & Spa will match eligible donations dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $25,000.

Funds raised will support the CDC Foundation’s work to strengthen community-driven overdose prevention efforts and help communities respond to the evolving overdose crisis.
