Bonterra, a leading provider of ethical AI technology for social good organizations and provider of the DonorDrive enterprise fundraising platform, today announced two major product launches aimed at one of the sector’s most persistent problems: getting registered participants to actually raise money. DonorDrive Mobile Messaging and DonorDrive Que arrive as connected pieces of a single strategy, not as separate features bolted onto the platform.

The timing lands at a pivotal moment for the industry. According to the Peer-to-Peer Professional Forum’s 20th Annual Top 30 Survey, America’s leading peer-to-peer programs raised $1.17 billion in 2025, up 3.4% year over year, with participation up 3.6%. On Bonterra’s own DonorDrive platform, the average peer-to-peer fundraiser raised $613.81 in 2025, up from $550.13 in 2024.

But that growth is happening against a backdrop of historically low consumer confidence. According to the 2026 Giving USA report, a strong stock market helped lift individual giving 4.1% in current dollars last year, even as consumer sentiment stayed near historic lows. For nonprofits, the money is out there — the harder job is earning and keeping supporters’ confidence. That’s the gap Bonterra is targeting.

“Nonprofits don’t have an awareness problem right now, they have a stewardship problem,” said John Manganaro, Chief Product Officer at Bonterra. “People are giving, and they’re willing to keep giving, but they need to feel connected to the cause and confident their support matters. That’s what these two launches are built to help nonprofits do.”

Closing the stewardship gap with messaging and intelligence

DonorDrive Mobile Messaging makes it the first enterprise fundraising platform for nonprofits with native mobile messaging built into the product. And the only one where nonprofits manage that messaging from the same place they manage their supporter acquisition channels, without exporting data or duplicating workflows. Triggered notifications fire automatically off live supporter activity, such as registration, a first donation, a milestone, or a goal met, and can be filtered by role, amount, status, and other criteria. For the first time ever, nonprofits can create targeted messaging via SMS, MMS, and RCS with branded, verified sender profiles, short codes, toll-free and local numbers, as part of holistic supporter engagement journeys, not as a separate strategy or system build.

DonorDrive Que, a fundraising coach embedded directly in the platform, addresses the other half of the equation: development staff who are managing more campaigns without more headcount. Que is available to all DonorDrive customers in their nonprofit admin area with no setup required. It combines best-practice coaching grounded in DonorDrive’s knowledge base and industry benchmarks with guidance personalized to an organization’s own event and campaign data, while keeping that data inside the organization’s own DonorDrive instance and honoring its existing security controls. It surfaces insights and engagement opportunities in real time to drive stronger, more strategic programs across both peer-to-peer and individual giving — insights grounded in what already works on the platform: DonorDrive fundraisers who personalize their stories raise up to 332% more.

“Que feels almost like another team member. It allows us to deepen our bench and work toward fundraising goals in a very cost-effective way,” said Merrin Bethel Jacobson, Director of Marketing and Philanthropy, Emmanuel Hospice.

Trust, more than price or feature depth, is what’s holding nonprofits back from AI tools broadly. Internal Bonterra customer research found that 64% of customers are ready to adopt AI, but only 21% trust its accuracy. Bonterra designed Que to close that gap: it’s built to assist fundraising staff rather than replace them, to protect customer data at every level, to show its reasoning rather than operate as a black box, and to guard against bias in its recommendations. Organizations using Que have already seen a 44% increase in donations — a proof point still rare among AI tools built for the sector.

“Fundraisers don’t need another dashboard telling them what already happened,” said Manganaro. “They need something that tells them what to do next, using their own program’s data and data-backed best practices without asking them to leave the platform or explain their situation from scratch.”
