Longtime technology leader will advance Bentek’s product modernization, responsible AI strategy and GovRAMP Ready program
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Bentek®, the benefits administration platform purpose-built for the public sector, today announced the promotion of Kevin Smith to Chief Technology Officer and Security Officer. In this expanded executive role, Smith will lead Bentek’s technology strategy as the company advances AI modernization, strengthens security and compliance, and continues developing technology for state, local and education organizations.

During his 11 years with Bentek, Smith has helped guide the company’s technology evolution across software engineering, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, product modernization, AI governance and technology compliance.
“Kevin has been instrumental in ensuring that security and privacy remain foundational to how we build, operate and serve our clients,” said Julie Fink, President of Bentek. “He understands our platform, our clients and our security responsibilities, and he is the right leader to help advance our next phase of innovation.”
Advancing Security and GovRAMP Readiness
Bentek’s security program includes SOC 2 compliance, an A+ HIPAA rating and participation in the GovRAMP program. Bentek is continuing to advance its GovRAMP Ready posture as part of its long-term commitment to protecting sensitive public-sector data and supporting evolving government procurement requirements.
Under Smith’s leadership, security, privacy and compliance will continue to be integrated into cloud architecture, software delivery, AI governance and day-to-day operations.
“Public-sector organizations deserve technology that is innovative without compromising trust,” said Smith. “Our responsibility is to modernize thoughtfully, protect the information entrusted to us and give our clients confidence in the systems that support their employees and retirees.”
Building a Secure and Governed AI Foundation
Smith will also lead Bentek’s next phase of AI-enabled development and operational modernization. The company is building a secure, governed AI foundation designed to reduce administrative work, improve support, enhance configuration tools and provide greater visibility across the customer lifecycle.
“Our focus is not on adopting AI simply because it is available,” Fink added. “We are focused on using it where it can make a meaningful difference while protecting our clients and maintaining accountability. As we look ahead, technology innovation and security must advance together.”
Kevin Smith’s promotion reflects Bentek’s continued investment in secure technology modernization and responsible AI adoption for the public sector.
