The Ultra Reliable Lightwave Orchestrator delivers 25.6 Tbps over a single fiber pair and deploys for up to 90% less capital than a brick-and-mortar hub.
DEERFIELD BEACH, FL, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Advanced Media Technologies (AMT), a value-added reseller and solutions integrator, today introduced the Ultra Reliable Lightwave Orchestrator (URLO™), a hardened, fully powered optical hub site that removes the need to build, staff and cool a hub building before entering a new market.
For most service providers, every new territory begins with a building. Site acquisition, permitting, construction, power, HVAC and security are all spent before the first subscriber is connected, and the site stays manned and cooled for the life of the network. That dependency gates capital, schedule and operating expense at once, and quietly settles which markets get built and which stay studies.
URLO removes the building from the equation. A complete site, including hardware, AMT engineering, installation and civil work, deploys for up to 90% less capital than the hub it replaces, against a deliberately conservative hub estimate.
“Eleven URLO sites deploy for the capital cost of one hub building,” said Craig Hugueley, Engineering Fellow, Technology Solutions Strategist at AMT. “That does not improve how a market gets built. It changes which markets are worth building. We design it, deliver it, install it, and stand behind it.”
Hub-class transport, without the hub
Designed, delivered and installed by AMT, URLO is built primarily on products from technology partners ATX, Zhone and Redde: a temperature-hardened CDC-Flexgrid ROADM, an optical broadband cabinet, a primary rectifier, a hybrid supercapacitor and a solid oxide fuel cell. The transport layer delivers up to 25.6 Tbps across a single fiber pair, with reach to 800 km, in an enclosure rated −40°C to +65°C with no HVAC. Because the ROADM is colorless, directionless and contention less, wavelengths are added, dropped and re-routed remotely without a truck roll, and the system is engineered to 99.999% reliability.
“An advanced and market-differentiated ROADM architecture capable of OSP-class performance from −40°C to +65°C with no HVAC is what makes these deployments possible,” said Clayton Zekelman, CEO of Zhone Technologies. “Our Saber product line, delivering advanced features like FlexGrid, integrated OTDR, OSC and an industry-unique Coherent Probe for real-time optical performance testing in a compact 1RU footprint, is game-changing.”
Verified through a three-day grid outage
In a simulated 72-hour grid outage, the URLO power system ran the full duration with zero interruption to the load. The hybrid supercapacitor covered the load instantly at grid drop, while the solid oxide fuel cell held a steady 1.3 kW output. “We are proud that AMT incorporated best-in-class, NFPA-recognized energy storage from the ATX Networks Areca product line for their solution,” said Matt Kuester, SVP Energy Storage at ATX Networks.
AMT is positioning URLO for FTTx expansion into new and underserved territories, hub site reduction, and remote power and SCADA management for cooperatives and utilities.
See URLO at SCTE TechExpo 2026, Booth H1432, September 29 – October 1 in Atlanta. AMT is inviting providers to bring a stalled site, one where hub cost, permitting or power has held up the build, for a modeled comparison. To schedule a meeting or site survey, contact sales@amt.com.
